I got my hands on Dead State today, and must say that I am not a fan of Zombie games in general, but this one is something really unexpecting. A Zombie game that isn't all about the combat, but survival in general. The game is seemingly interesting as it combines turn-based Action, Strategy and Role Playing elements, featuring resource collection, character management and base building, repairing and crafting.
Everything seems pretty detailed. Every thing that you do in the game matters - from managing your resources, keeping people's morale up, so that they can help you survive - to killing, which will make you think about it twice before you even try. Combat costs ammunition and it doesn't bring you much of experience points. I must say, besides zombies, the game reminded me of classic Fallouts, and that just can't be ignored.
Even if it didn't have zombies, I've waited at least a decade to play a modern game with X-COM's mechanics commingled with a few of the original Fallout's RPG sensibilities. The only drawback is quantity of bugs and glitches, which, i hope, will be resolved soon.
